Mayor's New Year's Day Levee
On New Year's Day, residents from all over Mississauga came together in the Great Hall at the Civic Centre to celebrate the Annual Mayor’s Day Levee with Mississauga Mayor Hazel McCallion and members of council. The afternoon started with remarks from McCallion who expressed a hope for optimism in 2010. From there, there was an exciting display of fine entertainment from some of Mississauga’s cultural groups, including the 16 girls from the Long Lade Dance Company, Mississauga Chinese Art Association and one young girl who performed her new solo dance routine backed by a song from Miley Cyrus. Once the entertainment started, the Mayor officially cut the City of Mississauga “Decade Cake” in front of a large group of media photographers. The Annual Mayor’s Day Levee is an afternoon of free family entertainment and activities and the event is a way for the community to all come together and celebrate the New Year in style.
