2008 October > 100th Birthday for Mrs. Newsman

Doris celebrated her 100th year of life and invited SNAP to tag along. A mother of three, grandmother to seven and a great-grandmother to another seven, Doris has definitely had a busy life. Doris was born in the U.K. and did not move to Canada until she lost her husband in World War 2. She raised her three children by being a bookkeeper, and survived since she was 19 with one kidney. Doris is loved by everyone around her and truly has lived a great life. She now lives at King Gardens and loves quilting, oil painting, ceramics and the piano. Everyone had a great time at her party, listening to all her great stories and all the wisdom that she has. When asked what her secret was to living such a long and healthy life, Doris replied, “Take one day at a time, enjoy every day and be sure to give everyone a smile."
